I am going to be a Freshmen at UCR- majoring in Chemistry and I had previously applied to UCSB but got denied due to my low test scores.
I want to transfer to UCSB because, i love the campus and I want to be away from everyone
They also offer a degree which I really interested in-pharmacology
What do I need to do in order for me to transfer here?
How many credits do I need?
Which academic year could i transfer here?

lol I thought you want to transfer to UCSD?

I want to transfer to either UCSB UCSD or UCI

steve
last year i was in the same boat youre in. i really wanted to go to ucsb, uci, or ucsd and only got accepted to ucr. i did research on here and found out that it is extremely difficutlt to transfer from a uc to a uc. they give priority to in state community college transfers, then high school seniors, and the rest are 4-year transfers. i have heard stories of this working but the people had nearly 4.0s across the board. i ended up going to a cc to try and place myself in the best situation to be able to transfer ASAP. i will be applying these upcoming months for fall 2012 admission. my first year was dreadful. you just dont get the “college experience” at a cc. you dont live on your own. you dont really venture out. many students at cc’s are detached from the school and simply go to class. nothing more. so either way you look at it you are going to have to make a tough decision. goodluck on whichever you choose.

simple google seach:

What test scores?

Hey,

I’d like to give another opinion on going to cc. I graduated last year from Santa Barbara CC and going to UCSB this year, and I’m from Santa Barbara.

My experience at SBCC was very positive, and in a couple ways it was better than even UCSB would have been. One example is the English classes – since cc’s are designed and judged by how they get students through their lower division requirements, they put a lot of effort and money into those programs. I had great professors for English 1 and 2, there were a lot of tutors and help, the class was very interesting, and overall it was a very worthwhile experience. UCSB puts so much less importance on those class than cc’s do. For one thing, most students coming in either are transfers or they have their basic English credits done from AP courses and such.

Another great thing about cc is that, at least at SBCC, you always have small classes, and the professors are really great. If you show responsibility and interest, they are always very accommodating and are interested in your individual progress. I had some amazing classes while at SBCC.

Of course socially it’s pretty lame, but that’s because not everyone is a first time student, and everyone has different educational plans and people aren’t really there to socialize. But you can still meet interesting people nonetheless, but you will be making a trade-off.

Plus CC is MUCH cheaper, and you can do agreements where you are guaranteed admission to certain universities, UCSB included, if you keep up a certain GPA and take all the required classes. I think to be guaranteed into UCSB, you need like 3.2 GPA or somewhere around there.

Good luck!

Excuse me!!
What tests?
The SAT?

Roy- yes, I think hes referring to SAT/ACT.

You don’t need to take the SAT or ACT if you’re transferring from a CC.

Thanks for the responses
I love the campus of UCSB and its location and all I think im going to go to UCR for a year she how it really is and how much i like it
Based off that I am going to make a decision go to a CC or try to transfer out of UCR
or just drop out and do something else
I hate UCR’s area

Have fun ;)
