Transfer out of UVA for money

I am currently a first year student at the University of Virginia, but I am not satisfied and think I would be happier someplace else. I just recently learned about Alabama Presidential Scholarship and really wish I had known about that earlier, the Presidential Scholarship for those of you who don’t know is a scholarship awarded to incoming freshman with 1400-1600 old SAT score and at least a 3.5 GPA. I would have been able to get the full cost of tuition paid for because of my test scores in high school. I am wondering if I can still apply for this scholarship even though I am currently in college but have not completed a single semester. Basically I want to transfer and want o go somewhere that will give me a sizable scholarship even though I am technically a transfer. Also if anyone knows of any other options available to me to please let me know. Thank you so much.

From what I’ve read on the UA’s website, you are ineligible for these scholarships because you’re not a senior graduating from high school (http://scholarships.ua.edu/faq/).

Just out of curiosity, what did you find about UVa that makes you want to transfer? It’s one of my top transfer choices, so any insights of current students would be great.

Call UA and ask them directly about your eligibility for the scholarship.

@mom2collegekids may be able to weigh in here.

Don’t get me wrong it is a very good school. I don’t really have any complaints other than the fact that its a little too close to home and if I could get a large scholarship somewhere else that would be very enticing and beneficial i think in the long run. But yeah if your looking to transfer in, I assume you’ve completed all your general ed. requirements I think you’ll be happy here, I know a lot of people that have transferred in and they love it.
