Transfer Possibility based on prior rejection letter

So my daughter was rejected by Clemson last year, but her rejection letter indicated that Clemson wished for her to show her capability at another college and then reapply for transfer. I’m wondering how successful that transfer possibility truly is.

High School SAT was 1800. High School weighted GPA was a 4.17
She is a first year Pre-biology major at Baylor. Her GPA is a 3.76 projected after this first semester, while
taking Biology I, Psychology, English Composition, History, Music Listening

I think Clemson didn’t like the SAT score, but hoping the first semester Grades show she can do the college work.

Based on a quick look at the Clemson transfer stats in the Common Data Set, about 60% of transfer applicants are accepted. I would agree that it seems the SAT may have been the initial application sticking point as it was on the lower end (esp if OOS, which tends to have a bit higher admission stats.)

She certainly has earned a nice GPA at Baylor, good for her! I would encourage your daughter to call Clemson Admissions and talk with them. If she wants to be a Bio major, I would also encourage her to reach out to the Bio Department too. She will want to ask about which courses might transfer to Clemson. I have heard comments that some transfer students have found it was not as many as they might have thought, so worth inquiring.

Please note that the Clemson Common Data Set says not all majors are available to transfer students, so this is definitely something she will want to ask about.

Good luck to her and your family moving forward. I am sure she would be a great addition to the Clemson student body. Go Tigers!

My daughter’s OOS roommate from last year transferred in with a 2.5 from a community college. She should not have an issue.
