transfer post gap year

hey everyone,

I know that high school grades still carry weight when applying for sophomore transfer, but how much weight would they carry if I graduated hs, took a gap year, entered college, and then applied for a transfer? assuming college GPA is very high 3.85+ and hs gpa is much lower (extenuating circumstances, etc.)

The gap year won’t magically overcome your HS grades. You will still only have one semester of college grades on record when you apply for transfer.r

The more time you spend performing well in college, the more it offsets poor high school performance. If you need to take a gap year for personal reasons, then by all means, go for it, but just know that you’ll still be considered a risng sophomore applicant either way, and they’ll look at your high school grades.
