Transfer Question- Difference between 2 essays?

What is the main differences you guys see in the 2 essay questions for transferring?

The one in the Common App is:
** Please provide a statement (250 words minimum) that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve.
Your essay will appear on a separate sheet at the end of the application.
**

The one in the Supplement is:
**
Academic Interest Essay (all applicants to complete)

Please address the topics below in an essay of approximately 500 to 750 words.

Tell us what you’d like to major in at Cornell and why, how your past academic or work experience influenced your decision, and how transferring to Cornell would further your academic interests.**

I don't really see a difference in the two, and I don't want to repeat the same things over and over for both essays...can somebody help me out please?

Thanks!

The former has more to do with what caused you to transfer institutions, the latter has more to do with your interest in the major within Cornell.

^^^ Which could be the same for some people, but I think that even if they are, I would make them different so they get a better idea of you as a person through your essays.

The first one is actually on a few different schools common App pages as well (I can't remember which, but yeah), and it's just 'why transfer at all?'

The second is the hardcore 'how do you fit at Cornell' essay, along with the other questions.

i called up the admissions office of my university and they said the latter question is part of the former question....so they can be similar

For one I did why I wanted that particular major (the supp) and then I used the common app to talk about cornell in general and different cornell programs and opportunities not necessarily available to ONLY people in my major that I would utilize.

The transfer application instruction pkgs keep referring to "the essay" as if it's just one essay. How much do you think the two can overlap?

(I'm glad to see I'm not the only one procrastinating!)
