Hey so i was wondering how hard it is to transfer to Michigan State University? I applied this year as a freshman for the upcoming fall 2011, and was accepted, but unfortunately didnt receive enough financial aid to make MSU possible. I decided to attend a smaller local school that was cheaper, and I excited, but MSU has a good program for what i am interested in ( athletic training) and i just feel like Im ready to get out, and experience a new place. So i was wondering how hard it is to transfer to MSU. If i apply as early as possible, would i be able to get more FA? I applied really late this year, because i accidentally forgot to submit some necessary information. Also how easy do credits transfer? Since it would only be my freshman, most of my classes will only be basic college pre recs. Any input would be appreciated!! Thank!

Im not sure how much more FA you’ll be able to get. I am going there this fall and, although I applied fairly early, did not receive any. Its tough getting FA nowadays, especially in Michigan. As far as how difficult it is to transfer, I would say it is not difficult at all, and especially if you had good enough grades to be admitted your senior year of HS. Just make sure that you keep your grades up and you should be good to go!

Re: admissions, generally a 3.5+ is in, 3.3ish-3.5 is toss up, < 3.2ish is really iffy and < 3.0 is near impossible. Then there’s courseload strength and all that… there are certain requirements you have to meet. I’m assuming you know them, but just in case: [Transfer Admission Criteria - Admission | Michigan State University Office of Admissions](http://www.admissions.msu.edu/admission/transfer_criteria.asp)

And transfer credits: <a href=“Transfer MSU: Web page not found”>Transfer MSU: An unexpected error has occurred; It’s really easy in my experience.

FA is very, very difficult to get ESPECIALLY for transfer students. I have an EFC of 0, parent income of < 30,000 and I still receive about $8k per year in loans (although most of those are replaced by outside scholarships).

Hi! Thank you for replying and sorry it took me so long to get back on here! I forgot to include scholarship consideration in my previous post! If i applied as soon as a could after the application came out, would I have a decent chance at some scholarships? When i applied during my senior year, I had around a 3.5 GPA, fairly strong EC’S and not very strong test scores. I plan on reapplying because MSU was my top choice to attend for the fall, it was just too expensive! Any information about transfer students would be much appreciated!
