Transfer Recs

I will be applying as a transfer to Wellesley College this year (but tech. part of their freshman pool)

I have pretty much no relationships with my professors, which is actually one of the reasons why I want to transfer. So for the teacher recs I have two options:

Get a T.A. that I kind of know to write one and hope that another professor will agree to write one. They can’t be that good since they don’t really know me (not that I really expect them to, they have 600+ students each term)

Get a T.A to write it and get one of my high school teachers to write one, I know him really well and we have a great relationship so it’ll probably be really good and actually say something about me.

I know that schools like to see recs from professors at universities for transfer students though, what should I do?

High school recs are not appropriate for transfers and do not substitute for college instructor forms. Do your best to go to office hours and get to know professors AND TAs.

disagree completely, it would be better to include a great hs rec than have it not there at all (esp. b/c youll be part of the freshman pool) but do try and get ones from your t.a. and professor as well. you could even ask them if they would be willing and set up a time to talk with them. it's hard for everyone to get recs. in college, trust me!

wayward, how does a great hs rec that actually describes the student NOT subsitute for a generic college one?

Should I include 3 recs then?

I was thinking of making an appointment with my T.A. and my professor and just explaining to them why I wanted to transfer and give them a resume or something along those lines. I heard someone mention on this forum that they did this and it worked.

Thanks for your help!
