Transfer Stats

I am interested in transferring to UVA next year, due to money issues I will most likely be attending the honors college at UMASS Amherst as a freshman. I have been accepted to several prestigious schools but simply can't pay for it. Could anybody who has been accepted as a sophmore transfer please post their stats? I would appreciate it. Also, it says on UVA's website that a limited number of students are admitted for spring semester of freshman year. Does anyone have any info on that and who they accept as a transfer student after only one semester at college? thank you.

anybody have any info, it would be greatly appreciated

I was accepted as a sophomore transfer for this coming fall with a 4.0 from William & Mary, 1520 SATs, 3.7 GPA high school and some solid extracurriculars.

I was also interested in the spring transfer after only one semester, but when I emailed Greg Roberts (Dean of Transfer Admissions) back in the fall, he had this to say:

"We review applications in April and make decisions by May 1."

...after I mentioned spring transfer in my email.

You may want to email him yourself at groberts@virginia.edu and try and ask him specifically. From what I understand, though, they are not high on freshmen transferring after one semester.

Hope this was helpful.

P.S. I also know people from my high school who got accepted with 3.4s from James Madison, but UVA happens to like my high school. So I would say keep the college GPA as high as possible.

theslammer: what made you transfer from W&M?

bluejay,

UVA was my original top choice out of high school, and W&M was maybe my #3. So I never really wanted to go to school in Williamsburg, and my attitude was probably bad about it from the start. That said, my reasons include wanting to major in Media (not a program at W&M) and minor in compsci (not a good program at W&M), have more social opportunities and a legitimate town to experience, be a part of a campus that appreciates sports and has a big time sports atmosphere (no knock on W&M here, our football team was incredible this year, but it's still not D1-A), and to be reunited with some of my best friends who are very important to me.

Add that to the desire to make up for what was, as I viewed it, my failure the first time around and I pretty much had myself convinced.

-Mike

Mike: Good luck in the fall. Surprised you didn't get in last year but I guess that's all in the past. Have a good semester.

TheSlammer, congrats on getting in. After corresponding w/ you, I knew you would be admitted. Good luck next year and wahoowah!!!
