Transfer student from SoCal

Hi! I am applying to transfer from UCSB to a couple schools and one of them is Ole Miss. I am looking at schools in the south but a little worried about fitting in. I am definitely down for parties etc. and am thinking about Greek life but I have never been to the south and have heard it’s very different than the west coast and I am definitely a California girl at heart. Any insight you have would be helpful thanks!

there are a ton of CA students. Three are in my sons fraternity. You will love it.

Thanks! That’s good to know! So how is the workload there? Can students balance their work and extracurriculars? I like to be involved and have a lot of interests and am hoping to join the newspaper.

We are from NJ and just visited Ole Miss back in early November with our oldest daughter who is a sophomore in HS. She wanted nothing to do with it before we visited because of her preconceived notions that everyone was either an ignorant redneck, racist, or super prep. She could not have been more wrong and was blown away by how incredibly friendly, sincere, and down to earth all the people were at Ole Miss. She loved it and it is now one of her top choices. She also learned a valuable lesson about preconceived notions.

I am from SD, CA and will be attending Ole Miss for fall of 2016. If you got into UCSB, you’ll definitely survive at Ole Miss.

You should always visit any campus before you actually enroll.

What fraternity is in a member in? I’m from CA and I’m most likely going to Ole Miss.

Betas have guys from CA but others do as well.
