I recently applied to MSU as a transfer student- I am a freshman at GVSU my question is... Does MSU make there decision on just your completed credits or will they wait until your winter semester is done.

The reason why I ask is because I only have 12 credits from the Fall Semester and I wont have 28 until after this semester. Also my first semester wasn't that great because I had one hard class that was worth 4 or 5 credits and it brought my GPA down- but I have a strong H.S. GPA(I don't know if that even matters anymore)

But if I do good this semester I will easily be over a 3.0 GPA, and right now I am under a 3.0

I hate to be the bearer of bad news sesame, but your chances of getting into MSU as a transfer are a lot lower than you might think. First, you have below a 3.0 and usually the second semester of freshman year is harder than the first semester. Also, you are increasing the amount of credits so that will be more work and it will be harder to keep a good GPA. Second, MSU mainly accepts junior transfers unless you wow them with your GPA (going off of your below 3.0 comment). Third, MSU is fairly hard to get into as a transfer, I think they have like a 40% acceptance rate for transfers. Fourth, MSU overenrolled last semester and will cut back on transfers.

You might be wondering how I know all of this information. A lot of it is on CC, and also in different newspapers about MSU admissions. Generally, MSU looks at around a 3.5 or so to get into the school as a transfer, according to other CC posters.
