Did anyone attend one of these? If so, how was it? I'm a transfer student but I didn't have time to attend one since Buffalo is rather far for me. I end up doing the online orientation.

Did you register all your classes? If you did, you could signup for the last one of the one-day transfer orientation which should be a weekend before the classes started.

I transferred in Spring of 2013. The Orientation was ALRIGHT.

1st: We met at the Student Union and were given the choice to pick up many different pamphlets. We were also able to sign up for student insurance and stuff…

2nd. They seperated the students and parents and gave seperate presentations. We got a free class safety pin thingy and a packet.

3rd. We got a pretty crappy tour of some of the academic spine buildings (I recommend exploring on your own time after the orientation is over; it’ll be really fun and the tour we got didn’t even scratch the surface of what was at UB).

4th: We were given an all you can eat buffet of free food and drinks; it was actually pretty tasty. We were urged to chat with other students.

5th. We were split up by major and got to sit with a counselor. It was there we’re I met somebody who eventually became my friend.

6th: On our way out, we got free UB t-shirts.

I honestly didn’t think it was necessary at all. The only real accomplishment was talking to my adviser in person and getting things straightened about regarding my schedule-- that was really needed though. Oh, and also actually seeing the campus. Otherwise, the orientation was pretty rushed. More time and fun is devoted towards the freshmen orientations, which makes sense!

Does anyone know when move in day is for the transfer students? And what time too
