Transfer student seeking advice on Q's about transfering to UCSB CCS

Hi there,

My name is Johnny, and have been accepted to attend UCSB under Psychology this Fall as a transfer student. I’m pretty excited about my acceptance, but I really want to change majors, and go in for Computer Science instead. With that being said, are there any Pre-req’s for this major in CCS, because I didn’t see any in Assist.org? I did go to the CCS website, and under Curriculum, I saw several Math, Science, and Computing classes.

So would those be the classes I’d be required to take if I wanted to get into that program?

And if that is the case, could I take those classes at UCSB, or would I need to take those classes at a Community College?

In addition, I have close to 70 credits from my Community College, If I do choose to take those classes, would I be disqualified for having too many credits afterwards since I’d be having 100 something credits? Because I do remember reading somewhere that the maximum allowed or accepted were 70 credits?

And, is the 3.0 GPA listed in the site the only GPA we need to maintain to be in the program, because the College of Engineering requires a minimum 3.6?

Those are all the questions I can think of right now, hopefully you guys can help me out, thanks.

It is very hard to change majors once you transfer, especially if it’s an impacted major. I believe CCS is a specialty with specific admission requirements.

You can have more than 70 CCC units but only 70 count toward your bachelors degree. Those students who change majors during CCC may have well over 100 units.
