Hey everyone! I had a question about the possibility of transferring to Rutgers -- New Brunswick for Fall 2014.

I went to a very academically rigorous private high school, but unfortunately only kept a 2.1 GPA. While a 2.1 GPA at this high school would be more like a 2.9-3.1 anywhere else, I am aware that it is not a good GPA. Before anyone jumps down my throat, I was sexually assaulted when I was 16, and it really impacted my academic career. I am now a first semester freshman at a private university, and am doing very well. I have been getting good grades, I got a job, I am involved in ECs, and I am happy here. I feel that I could be happier, however, at Rutgers.

I applied as a high school senior and was rejected. I know my odds of getting in are quite slim, but was wondering if anyone had any advice?

Thanks, guys!

Hello,
First of I am sorry that you had to endure such a horrible event at such a young age. But I am in a similar situation to you. I graduated from an extremely rigorous high scho with a 2.8 gpa and got rejected from rutgers. I am currently a freshman at seton hall university and am doing rather well also. From what I here rutgers is picky with their transfer students from four year university’s but almost guarantees admission to graduates of a nj community college with an assosiates degree. If you are in state that might be an option if you can survive another year or semester, but if you are applying to sas it depends on the applicant pool. I am applying for the fall 2014 and hopes that my improved gpa will get me in. I currently have a 3.35 at the end of my first semester. Good luck to you!

Thanks! I was admitted this morning!

I don’t know if you still check this but I was admitted back in February but didn’t accept my admissions until last week. Waited to the last possible minute, I know right. Will be going to rutgers next year as a sophomore and a history major. Maybe I will see you there. Thanks.
