Transfer to FSU for Fall 2011

Hello,

I want to transfer to FSU for the Fall of 2011, and was wondering when is the best time to apply. I know as a transfer student, colleges mostly look at your classes and G.P.A. and SAT/ACT do not really matter. My major I want to go into in Sports Management and maybe a double major in Applied Economics. Right now my G.P.A. is a 3.066 with 33 credits and plan on it going up. Also, I have completed/ will complete the pre-requisites for both majors plus more than the minimum that is required. I'm transfering from a University and not a Community College if this helps at all.

Thanks to anyone who responds in advance.

Unless you come to FSU with your AA or with 60 hours, you have to meet BOTH freshman admission requirements and transfer student requirements. So yes, SAT/ACT couldl still be important, as will your high school transcript. FSU spells this out on their admisions webpage. Will you have 60+ hours? Likely they will not review your application until you have completed your spring term, since they have summer to review, and since they do not review transfer apps way ahead like they do freshman apps. I would apply in the spring, but anticipate there will be no decision until spring grades are in, esp given your current GPA. Keep working hard and get that GPA up. You will be competing with students coming in with their AA, and they do have priority, as FSU also states on their website.

Yes, I will have over 60 credits by the end of the spring term and plan on having an A.A. from my University. I also though plan on applying in December/early January because of the deadline for the Sports Management program is March 1st.

The AA makes it easier to get in. Good Luck!!

Alright, Thanks for your help and input.

I also plan on transferring. I already have my A.A. degree, and all the prerequisites for my intended major (Biological sciences) should be completed by the end of Spring '11.

I think my G.P.A. average is a 3.8, but my science G.P.A. (prerequisites) lies a little lower, at about a 3.4 G.P.A.

The FSU website states that they will accept transfer applications 1 year before the Fall '11 term, and no later than 6 months before. 6 months before would be February. I think a good medium would be in December. I might just do that.

By the by, I go to UCF. It’s not a bad school, I just want to increase my chances of getting into professional school.
They’ll understand.

Anyway, does anyone want to “chance me”?

Anybody else have an opinion on my chances of getting in.

Well, you are my competition, so no. :D

I thought the FSU website says the Fall 2011 transfer deadline is July 1? Unless you mean there’s an earlier deadline for your major.

I’m applying for Fall 2011 transfer for Computer Science. I will only have 50 credits by the end of spring and plan to take 9 more in the summer. As of December I’m pretty sure I’ll still have a 4.0 GPA for 32 credits. I took the SATs a long while ago and got 1440/1600. All the requirements for a lower level transfer are already on the way to FSU.

I know someone said that they think FSU will wait for spring grades to come out before making a decision, does anyone else think that is true? I am applying now because I was hoping to get a decision a little earlier. I understand waiting for Fall grades and then making the acceptance conditional on Spring grades but to wait til the summer to get any kind of decision seems like too much. I guess I’m more of a planner but I would like to know what city I’m going to be living in and start thinking about housing, etc more than 1 month before.

Anyone know if applying from an OOS CC will hurt me? I’ll have 30 credits, and probably looking at a 3.5 GPA or so. I didnt do so hot in high school, 3.4 GPA, no APs, 28 on ACT.

SunnyFlorida, I want to transfer to FSU as well. (I have a AA degree.) Do you work in the FSU admissions office?
