Hello,
I am fixing to head into my freshman year at one of the CC Top Liberal Arts colleges (don’t want to be too specific) and I’m beginning to feel anxious about it… Firstly I love the school but I feel like it is lackluster in terms of what I want my career to be(law professor) while Swarthmore has an impressive track record. Second Swarthmore has vast academic freedom to truly explore and take chances… I just feel unsure of my school and the more I research Swarthmore the more I want to transfer. Is there anything I can do to prepare myself best? I know I want a high GPA as in 3.8-4.0 depending on how hard the school is to me, but other than that what can I do to help my chances the most for Swarthmore? Should I retake my ACT? I currently have a 32 but I want the best chances. Should I visit? I guess extra curriculars are a big part as well as essays(what are the topics for a transfer student?). I know I can get good recs and ECS and figure out the essays… I just want to go to Swarthmore so badly now and need some help. Also on a note I didn’t apply to Swarthmore in the first place cause all my friends made fun of it so I decided that I shouldn’t (cause of their cringy emails). Any advice would be great
If you want the 4.0 you’re suggesting. Definitely don’t transfer to Swat. Why don’t you give current school a fair shake. I bet you love it and don’t ever look back. Good luck,

Re-evaluate some of your friendships, perhaps?
I would not necessarily re evaluate your friendships. Kids are kids and say immature things. The best way to manage is to learn better how to process this nonsense and stand up for yourself. It’s a self confidence thing and it will come over time. Lighten up on the kid. Geesh.
Agree with @privatebanker and give your current school a chance because (1) you may love it, and (2) if you don’t give your school a chance you likely will not be happy and will not be successful, and other top schools like Swarthmore would probably not accept you as a transfer. Also, an ACT of 32 is below Swarthmore’s average. Also, I do not understand how another top LAC could be seen as lackluster for your career goal as law professor. Any undergrad and major is fine to get into law school (along with a good LSAT score), and top law schools are filled with kids from a variety of colleges, including less selective ones (plus your current LAC is a top one you say). Just enjoy your current school and do the best you can and enjoy it.
Bloom where you are planted. Swat is not for everyone. It’s extremely rigorous and attracts students who want that rigor - most of those extremely hard-working, smart students will kiss their high school 4.0s goodbye. You’re experiencing buyer’s remorse - it’s not uncommon but you need to get over it. Good luck with your freshman year, strive to do your best and excel there - if it’s not difficult enough for you and you are acing all your classes, reconsider your options in a year or 15 months.
