Transfer to UCs?

I'm currently a senior high school student. My family are going to move to CA this year, so my parents suggest me applying to a CA community college (to stay next to them) then transfer to a UC later. However if I apply to colleges this year, I'm very likely to get accepted to at least some top 100 colleges. If my main goal is to transfer to UC Berkeley or UC Davis, which is a better choice in my first two years: a CA community college or a top 50 college in another state?

A CCC for certain. The UCs are mandated to fill up with CCC students and they get first crack at transfer.

Save your money, go to the CCC, do well, and you’ll get in. No sense in spending extra on gen eds, unless you’re wanting to go into a very specific major with specific prereqs.

I would say go to CC. It’s MUCH cheaper and easier to get into classes. It’s also easier to get into UC’s. I was a CC transfer. I got into both UC Berkeley and UC Davis, along with UCSD as well.
