I am Jehanzeb and I am studying at the International University Bremen in Germany. I am doing Electrical Engineering and Computer Science here which is a 3 year undergraduate degree modelled on the programme at RICE and CMU.

I want to tranfer out to some real good US university offering Engineering and I will require a substantial amount of financial aid. I have enough transfer credits. I would like you all to recommend some places where I should apply keeping in mind the following:
i) I am an international transfer students and need a lot of financial aid
ii) My first year grades are slightly above average.
iii) State Univs are out of the question

Some info abt my academics:

Current GPA: 3.0 ( 1.0 being the best and 5.0 meaning fail ---European GPA)

I was about to recommend Cornell, Michigan and Northwestern because they accept lots of transfers...but then I read that you need a lot of financial aid. Michigan does not give aid to international students, and Northwestern and Cornell are stingy when it comes to international aid.

Most US universities does not give out financial aid to International Transfer students. And may I know how come you want to leave IUB? I heard that it's a great school and my friend is actually applying to IUB also...

So I need to cut my list down to four or five : So please reply ASAP !

i) John Hopkins
ii) Boston Univ
iii) Miama Univ (Oxford Campus)
iv) Texas A & M
v) Trinity College (Not sure if they give aid to Internationals)
vi) Univ of Houston
vii) Washington St. Louis
viii) Cornell

p.S: Northwestern has a beautiful campus....only if they gave aid to International Tranfers !!!

Mjehan, I know Texas-Austin is a state university...so are Miami University, University of Houston and Texas A&M! But Texas-Austin is one of the few state universities that actually gives aid to internationals. Check it out though, because I am not sure.
