Transfer Worries

Hey everyone. I’m currently attending Farmingdale State College and have a 3.3 GPA. I’m a sophomore and would like to transfer to Stony Brook. I know about the dead campus and such but my sister went there and I have a lot of friends there and I love the vibe so that is the least of my worries. Anyways, I decided I want to transfer into the Psych Program at Stony and it says I should take Calc but the problem is the calc classes here are all filled up and I have to apply to Stony soon. Do you guys think I can still get into the Psych program without it? Also I applied to Bing last year and got in but didn’t go for financial reasons. What are my chances and what should I do to improve my chances of getting in or should I just apply to the school and then pick my major later in at the school?
Thanks everyone!

Yes, you can get into Psych without Calc. You’re right, you’ll need it at some point, though, so if you can (maybe in the spring?), I’d definitely recommend you do it.

Thank you Chris for answering! So me not taking Calc won’t effect me getting into the psych program?

Not necessarily, no. You’ll want to make sure you have at least SOME math, though, because you’ll definitely need it. If you’re applying for Fall 2016, for example, try to get at least pre-calc in the spring.
