I am currently a freshman at James Madison University and want to transfer to Richmond fall 2016. I applied out of high school and was placed on the wait list. Besides trying to get good grades what advice do you have for getting in as a transfer? Thanks
Make sure you are involved in activities/clubs at JMU and participate actively in your classes.
Thank you! Would you say I need all "A"s this year?
I wouldn’t say all As is absolutely necessary, but that should be your goal. Avoid Cs, but a few Bs shouldn’t hurt your chances.
Thank you! Last question, what is the housing situation for transfer students?
I’m not quite sure what you mean, but transfer students tend to live on campus too, just like freshman admits. As a sophomore transfer, you’d be in a dorm, but I’m not sure how housing selection works for transfers (Don’t have experience with that).
Hello everyone! I am currently a sophomore at my current institution (Montgomery College) and am looking to transfer to the University of Richmond for fall 2016. I am in the honors program at Montgomery College and have a 3.57 GPA. I have taken a rigorous course load while being heavily involved on campus. My extracurricular activities include being President of Phi Theta Kappa, Vice President of the Renaissance Scholars Society (the club for the honors program), First Year Experience Student Ambassador, a mentor for a number of high school and college students (many of minority descent) and writer for the school’s newspaper. In addition, this past summer, I was selected from the honors program to be a research intern at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. So, all in all, I would like to know if anyone out there may please “chance me” as the University of Richmond is my number one choice. Any feed back is welcomed! Thank you!
