Hi guys, I’m currently a freshman at a private two year college which is in the transition to a four year college. I was curious what I’d need to do to become a top transfer candidate for Notre Dame. In college I have a 4.0 GPA currently and am fairly certain I’ll maintain it. In high school I didn’t realize how important things were and had a 2.0 GPA and scored a 23 on my ACT. I’m not sure how much they take the later two into effect when choosing applicants but I just thought I’d add that. Along with my classes I also run track and cross country which takes up A LOT of time. With that being said, what do you guys think my chances would be? Should I transfer after my freshman or sophomore year (hypothetically speaking if money wasn’t an issues)? My dream schools are UC’s but those are extremely hard to transfer into, not that I won’t try my hardest to get into one of them, but Notre Dame was my childhood dream school.
I hope you applied to UCs!
Have faith in yourself, I come from a CC that is affiliated with UCs so honestly just go for it.
UCs primarily focus on your college grades, so don’t worry!
Apply anyways and best of luck (:
I’m a transfer student from California and I was accepted to 3 out of the 4 UC schools I applied to; still waiting on UCLA though.
For the UC schools you’re going to need 60 transferable units, also if you’re not a California resident it’s a bit harder to get in. They favor students from California. Lastly, this is for transferring to any school. You need extra curricular activities. For example, I’m a part of student government, I’m vice president of Phi Theta Kappa, and I work on campus as a tutor. Stuff like that will boost of your chances of getting accepted when it’s time to transfer.
Good luck!
