Transfer?

Hi,

I'm kind of considering transferring to UCLA. Well... TRYING to at least. If I get in. I'm only a freshman but I took some university class as a senior in high school and also have 54 credits of AP at my school. And according to UCLA's ap chart... it's apparently 72 credits. (which is a lot... I'm not sure if they will give me that much credit) So by the end of the year I will have around 100 credits here at my school and about the same at UCLA if everything were to transfer over. I go to UW Madison so I don't think there would be that much of a problem?

Anyways... my GPA might not be the best after this first semester. Probably a 3.6 since I'm most likely going to get a B in my chem class. But it's also an accelerated honors course which basically means it's a year of chem in one semester and honors on top of that. Again... I'm not sure how they view this but I think my school has like a statement about the course.

So... this post is long enough. Do I have a little bit of a chance of transferring here? Thanks you. :)

I mean… thank you…

You need to be a junior in terms of class standing to be considered for xfer admission, which it looks like you’ll be. However transfers from other 4-year schools are the lowest priority, preference being given to CC transfers and then transfers from other UC campuses. Knowing nothing other than where you’re applying from, your chances are about 12% according to the stats on the UCLA website.

And in any event, I would not recommend spending the $50K a year OOS tuition to attend a large state school. Don’t count on financial aid to cover it; CA is strapped and can’t even give full aid to CA residents. Nor will you ever qualify to get in-state rates, even if you move here full time.
