Although there are a lot of things I love about USC, I miss home too much so I'm considering transfering back east (anywhere near Boston).

Fall semester at USC: 4.0
involved in community service, sorority

High School:
new sat 650 math/650 english/770 writing
old sat 660 math/690 english
GPA: ~3.8
hardest course load at an altern HS
good ECs

I'm considering UPenn, Dartmouth, Cornell, Columbia (accepted at Barnard last year but did not apply to Columbia), Yale, Harvard, Georgetown, Amherst, Williams

Obviously, the ivys are a stretch but I feel like I have a shot...? Comments, help?

what about BU or BC? im almost positive you could get into both...

plus, a 4.0 from USC is not shabby AT ALL, especially with a 3.8 HS...your SATs are about average, but honestly i think you have a good shot at a bunch of those schools
UPenn - slight reach - great GPAs, and they have a reasonable transfer rate
Dartmouth - reach
Cornell - depends on which school
Columbia - not sure
Yale - reach
Harvard - reach
G'town - slight reach/low match - again, you're in range HS-wise, and a 4.0 college is superb, and they have a great transfer rate too
Amherst/Williams - not sure

good luck, i think you'll do great...go for BU too, but i think G'Town is a great chance, and UPenn is not too much of a reach

Thanks, I'll def apply to BC.

My major is Anthropology, btw, so I'll be in the college at each school.

yea thats in CAS at cornell, meaning its a reach for almost anyone

yes, cornell is then a reach...
but, i think you have a GREAT shot at g'town, and a good chance, but still a reach, for Penn

good luck!

wow, I thought Cornell was one of the easier ones- on college board it say they accepted about 35% of transfers last year- a large number, 702.

Yale and Columbia seem way worse- accepting less than 9% and a way smaller amount of students (Yale accepted only 30 students!)

I'm def going to apply to Harvard and Upenn because they have the best Anthro programs. Yale and Columbia seem like lost causes. Dartmouth, Amherst, Williams, Gtown, and BC don't have good Anthro programs... so I'm not quite where to apply

I think I may have a shot at Gtown, so maybe I should overlook the strength of their Anthro department for the overall school, but then I should add a 4th school to round things out...suggestions?

a large number of transfers to Cornell are of the guaranteed variety, basically offers of january admission given during the freshman cycle that are contingent on maintaining a certain GPA at another school for the first semester. Very few transfers to Cornell, especially CAS, are actually transfer applicants.
