Transfering Externally?

I am a senior in high school and I am starting community college fall 2016. I have a 106 weighted GPA and a 1940 SAT score, so I am not attending community college due to bad grades but rather for financial reasons. I plan to be a biology major and I have a passion for medicine. I would like to transfer to UT Austin after I finish my basic courses at CC. Is this possible? I’ve been told that it is very difficult and highly unlikely for someone outside the UT System get accepted to UT Austin. My rank is in the top 15% of my class, so I don’t qualify for automatic admission as a transfer student. I need to know which university I will be transferring to so that I will take the necessary prerequisites for that school. Do you think that I should plan on attending UT or is it very unlikely that I will be accepted?

To answer some of your questions directly: Is it possible? Yes. Auto admit as a transfer? There is no such thing. They will only care what you did at your CC as a potential transfer, and they care that you can graduate on time.

106 weighted gpa?

From what I have heard, it can be tough to get the major you want as a transfer.

You should go talk to your CC advisor right away and find out the success rate of transferring to UT and A&M.

Have you applied to any 4 year programs? Texas State come to mind.

You could also look at UT Dallas. If you are looking at medical school, they have a pretty high acceptance rate.
