Ok im in CC right now but i am transfering to a univeristy soon (i live in California so either here in state or transfering to washington). i am just kind of worried about going to a school where i dont know anyone and making friends. i plan on going greek and joining a fraternity. joining a fraternity as a transfer student? are frats ok with that/like that? any other recommendations on how to meet please? and please dont tell me to not join a fraternity. i have always wanted to and i want to meet other people in one. opinons? thanks

I’m also a transfer student, and I knew other transfer students who got accepted into frats/sororities. Anyway, if you get the chance to live in a dorm, take it, especially if you get to dorm with other fellow transfer students. Other options are joining clubs and doing sports, if you’re an athletic kind of person.

hmmm should i live in the dorms my first transfer year? or should i join a fraternity though? im not quiet sure how it works getting into a fraternity either, like if im already going to school there THEN i joint a fraternity, do i move in the house with them in the middle of the year?

I don’t know how fraternities at other schools work, but I know that at mine, if you get accepted into a fraternity, you don’t have to live in the house with them. Two of my roommate’s boyfriend’s suitemates lived in the dorm for fall quarter 2011, rushed during Rush Week and got accepted to a frat that same quarter, and didn’t officially start living in the frat house until last fall (I think if there wasn’t that dorm contract where you have to stay in the dorm for the whole year, they would’ve moved out winter quarter, one quarter after they got accepted into the frat).

ahh ok, so anyone else got experiences on joining a fraternity as a transfer student?
