Transfering to JHU?

Hi, new member here...

Not really sure how to go about this but I am wondering what my chances of transferring to Johns Hopkins University would be? I just finished my freshman year at nearby University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) in the Computer Engineering program with a 4.0 taking basic Computer Science, Calculus 1-2, Chemistry, Physics, English, Discrete Math. I don't really have any extra circulars yet, nor was I a standout high school student.

Do I have a shot of getting in if I keep up the 4.0 through this year for the fall of 2012? If not what could I do to improve my chances, or what other schools would be a better fit with similar competitiveness?

Thanks for your responses!

A 4.0 in college is impressive, but JHU usually admits 5-10% of transfer students.

As far as tips, I’d recommend looking really closely at what you want to do at JHU. What do you like about computer engineering at Hopkins? Think about specific research centers and advanced areas of focus. Does computer integrated surgery look interesting? Do you like computer vision or computer graphics? At JHU, computer engineering requires a set number of electrical engineering classes and computer science classes. Do you like both electrical engineering and computer science?

As far as computer engineering goes, I think that UMCP also has a good program. As far as schools that are similar to JHU, Duke, UVA, and Cornell come to mind.
