Transfering, what's life like?

I'm a freshmen at a different college right now in Ohio. I'm thinking of transferring to NYU, but I wanna know what it's like there first. Is it easy to make friends as a transfer student? From what I've heard most people make friends in the first few weeks of their freshmen year, but I obviously won't be living in the freshmen dorms and I've also heard that most of the students are cliqueish or unfriendly. The only real reason I want to transfer is to meet new people. New York City is awsome and the school I go to now is too small (2000 people) for me I think. Is it worth it or is it impossible to meet cool new people as a transfer student?

there are 8 million people in Manhattan. I'm sure you will be able to strike up a conversation with some of them. I am a parent, not a student. But I can't imagine being considered 'an outsider'. NYU is too big for everyone to know each other. If you are a wallflower, you will have issues in NYC. However, if you are willing to put yourself out there and get involved with activities, I'm pretty sure that nobody is going to whisper "oh that kid just came from X school, let's shut him/her out". It's what you make of it and if you are willing to put forth the effort, I'm sure you will welcomed.

Many students transfer there after community college, so there will many people like you there. It is a large place and can be intimidating if you are shy and don't want to interact, but there are tons of clubs and kids hang out all over the place, so I don't think you will have a problem.

Yeah, that makes sense. Thanks. I'm pretty sure I want to go though if I get accepted.
