Transfering with 45 credits

I go to a decent public college (tier 2). My info:

College GPA: 4.0. In honors program. (GPA is with 20 credits. challenging courseload with mostly 3000-level classes. one of my lower level classes is honors. if things keep going like they are now, a 4.0 with 36 credits at the end of this semester).

HS GPA: barely in the top third of class

SAT: 1310

APs: I took ten in high school. Took eight exams. Passed four with 4, 4, 3, 3.

ECs, awards: decent

Recs: really good

I plan to take 9 credits over the summer, then apply as a spring transfer, and take off the fall to work.

Are my chances at tier 1 schools decent? Or should I take 15 credits during the fall to boost my chances?

C'mon.....

By spring transfer I'm assuming you mean admission for the spring. Many schools don't offer, or are extremely selective in their spring transfers. It also depends on your major, some schools (such as my own) will under only the most limited circumstances take a biochem transfer from another 4 year.
