My son is considering transferring to UM but wondering about the social life. He would be in the upperclassmen dorms (I suppose). Anyone with experience? Do the upperclassmen already have their own friends from freshman year?

The older upperclassmen dorms Pearson/Mahoney are next to a cafeteria. They are a suite of four students, so he will get to meet three people right off the bat, plus the RA. I would suggest he get a meal plan and ask to sit with a group in the cafeteria, if his roommate doesn’t go. Go to the football games (big fun!), campus parties, random events and just be ready to talk to people everywhere.
