Transferring colleges after freshman year...

Right now I am a freshman in college, however, I plan on transferring out for Fall '10. I just finished my first semester and my gpa wasn't too good (2.7), will that hurt my chances or is it understandable to get a lower gpa on your first semester of college?

Also, will my grades for this second semester mean anything if they send out acceptance letters in April? Because my semester ends in May...

Thanks everyone.

Your Gpa is pretty low and could be a problem when submitting your application. I think what would be best is to either wait another semester to bring it above a 3.0 to be more competitive. You could also submit a mid-year report showing your improvements and write in your essay explaining your bad semester. What are your high school stats?

Yeah, same problem here. My GPA is good, but most schools require 30 credits to be considered a transfer. So if you did well in high school, they will look at your high school transcript and ACT/SAT scores.
