Will one bad semester of college ruin my chances of transferring

I did well throughout HS and on the ACT. However, I did poorly in my first semester of college because of a disease affecting my academic performance and it was the first time living on my own. I attend a top 60 university but I do not belong here. I want to transfer down by the way. Feel free to PM me.

what was your first semester gpa?

Explain your reason in your application. You have a valid reason (low grades due to illness) and it should not hurt your chances.

It depends on your GPA. Many colleges want transfers to have at least a 2.0 or 2.5.

If you have a low GPA then your likely stuck at your current school.

my GPA was barely above a 2.0, but my illness (which I was born with) prevented me from doing well. I need a change of scenery badly. If I have to go to CC next year I will so I can get my GPA up. But, I want to transfer out of here.

You need to spend at least 2 years at cc and bring your GPA up.
