I am a student who did not receive a merit scholarship upon entering my current university. What are my chances of receiving a merit scholarship for my next year as a sophomore. I have a 3.68 GPA. Would my chances increase if I applied to another school, which is competitive with my current university, and got a scholarship from them? In this way using my acceptance as leverage to my current school.
I would imagine that your current school has plenty of scholarships you can apply to right now and you would receive the money after you file your financial aid and before the next term starts. After your freshman year, colleges hardly ever hand out scholarships, you have to apply to them.
Also, transfer students almost never get money, so I wouldn’t plan on that working out.
