I am looking to transfer from my community college to a UC in the fall of 2020. Most UC’s have a language proficiency requirement of either two years in high school or two semesters in college. However, I was homeschooled for most of my life, and I only attended one semester of my junior year of high school during which I was placed into Hebrew III Honors (the third year of Hebrew offered at my school). I earned an A+ in the class after one semester, and shortly after, I got my GED and enrolled at a community college. I am now halfway through completing my AA degree for transfer. If I provide a transcript showing my semester completion of a third year level language class with an A+, will that be sufficient for transfer? If not, is there any way I can place out of a language to avoid having to take two semesters of it?
A passing grade in a third-year language course should satisfy the requirement, yes. I mean, you’d have to have been proficient in the language to pass that course.
^^^ agree
Yes should be fine. What’s your major and local area? Which UC campuses have you been considering? And you should definitely look into CSU’s too in case you don’t get into the UC’s.
