<p>So, I figured it might be nice to have someone to ask questions about the transfer process into UW, especially from a Seattle community college or another school. I transferred Winter 09 quarter and it was one of the craziest application processes I've had to do (And I've been to 3 other 4-year schools!). But, I'm here, and I love UW. It can be a bit stressful when transferring, and I know I had tons of questions to ask when I was coming in... So, if any of you guys fall into this category and have any questions on the process, what the campus is like, or the English major (I have a lot of input on that one!), feel free to ask here. Or, even if you're not a transfer student but have questions.. I'm always available. :) Just thought I'd throw this out there... If this is considered a useless/non-helpful post, feel free to ignore it/delete it. I'm just a girl trying to help out other people with their questions, and I know I wished I'd had someone to help me out when I was going through the process.</p>

<p>I got rejected for Fall 09, but am looking to transfer in for my sophomore year (Fall 10’). I was wondering if the following would help, because I am worried that if they rejected me once they’ll do it again…</p>

2) International Business Major w/ minor in Chinese.
3) Multicultural clubs
4) Maintain a 3.8/4.0 first year
5) Multi-business clubs</p>
<p>Do I need more, or what can I do to pack my application?</p>

<p>From the looks of it, I can’t see why you wouldn’t get in. Especially considering a Cougar wants to become a Husky. 
Haha but no, it does sound like you have the necessary GPA and drive to be a student at UW. I just know I made sure I had a damn good essay about why I wanted to be at UW specifically instead of any other in-state school. I think by applying again it shows you really do want to be at UW, you know?</p>
<p>In terms of my credits, pretty much all of them transferred in from all of my schools, though it’s taken a bit of running around to different departments to get them to actually count as certain classes. I, however, had a lot of credits coming from out of state schools so I ran into a few more snags than you will, considering you’re at WSU.</p>
<p>I think you should be good in terms of getting in, though right now with the budget cuts a lot of applicants are worrying moreso than they normally have to.</p>

<p>Hm, also I just noticed you said Fall 2010 to transfer. I’m pretty sure anyone who wanted to transfer to UW for Fall quarter needed to apply by February 15th. :|</p>
<p>See last year I missed that deadline because I didn’t realize I wanted to transfer until around March. I found out the deadline had passed so I had to wait to apply to transfer for Winter quarter instead of Fall quarter. That application process won’t happen until August. I’m not sure if you are still wanting to go to UW and wait a quarter to get in, but if that’s the case, I highly suggest for Fall 2010 that you take some classes that will transfer into UW at a local community college. That’s what I did to pass the time and I got my foreign language requirement out of the way.</p>

<p>So, one last thing regarding the transfer. I needed to apply this past February for a spot in the 2010? That’s a year and half early though. Is that normal? =/</p>

<p>Right now I’m still waiting to hear back for fall 09, I’m trying to transfer from the university of michigan. Also, I was accepted last spring (of my senior year) for fall 08 but obviously I didnt go, does that have an effect on my application now?
Another question, did you live in the dorms as a transfer? I would be a 2nd year transfer from oos and was wondering any details on what a good dorm would be. thanks!</p>
<p>Mathew, I actually read it wrong. Sorry! Got the years mixed up. You’ll apply for Fall of 2010 probably starting in like, October I’m thinking of this year. I misread and thought it said Fall 2009 you were applying for. Haha.

<p>ktwish, I don’t think it has an effect, though I could be wrong. I only applied to UW once, got in and am there now, so I’m not totally sure on that one.</p>
<p>Also, I don’t live on campus because I live in a great apartment in Wallinford that’s a 10 minute busride from campus. If you’re REALLY looking to live on campus, I’m not sure what is best. I will say I’ve heard the dorms kind of suck, though, and pretty much every person I know who I work with or am friends with that has gone or goes to UW lives off-campus. But considering your OOS and probably want to meet people, on-campus housing might be your best bet. I’d ask around, since I’m not the best person to ask. Off-campus housing is cheaper and sometimes better though. Just depends on what you’re looking for!</p>
<p>One more question </p>
<p>On the application process it wants you to declare a major and list specific classes that have filled the basic requirements. But for me I’m leaning on two almost antithetical majors - international business (Business for UW and first) and communications (second). So I’m just confused, I have no idea what I want to do but do I have to know before I transfer?</p>
<p>Mat, I don’t think it’s a big deal. They had me do the same thing but I wasn’t sure I was even filling it out properly for English, haha. I’d just honestly fill it out for one of your majors, and worse case scenario you can always switch majors later. It’s not that big of a deal. :)</p>
<p>Mathewlr: i think they give you a quarter to decide what you want to major in. But i think its makes everything else easier if you apply to the school and to the program at the same time.</p>
