Transferring from CC to State School. Is it really that much more difficult?

Well I was able to transfer to a state school (CSU-Long Beach) with a 3.493 GPA and 69 credits. In my last two semesters at CC, i took 37 credits and my GPA was 3.86 (All A's and one gosh darn C).

I've always heard that transferring from a CC to a 4 year degree is accompanied with a hit on your GPA. First off, is this really true? Do state school classes really require that more effort than CC classes?

Secondly, for CSULB they cap the credits you can take per semester at 16 due to the budget crisis. This seems to be a lot easier for me considering what I was doing in CC and should help maintain a high GPA. I have high hopes for Econ Grad School but realistically need to keep a 4.0 at long beach to have a shot at a top 15 program down the road (or atleast that is what I've heard). With little to no wiggle room, is there anything else I should do to prepare myself for the change?

I'm an Econ major/math minor for reference.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Anyone have any insight on the increased difficulty of classes from CC to a 4 years institution?

nevermind, misread the original post.
