Transferring from CC

I’ll be transferring from my college with an A.S. in Liberal Arts in Spring 2016. The priority application submission dates that I’ve looked at have all been around March/April so I am curious why people say to apply as early as November. Wouldn’t the final grades for the fall semester be needed for the application? Right now I have a 3.62 GPA and I am hoping to raise that to at least 3.75 by the end of the fall semester therefore it would be in my advantage to apply after December anyways, but I’m wondering if that will that decrease my chances since everyone supposedly applies early.

My top choices for schools are SUNY Binghamton, Cortland, Stonybrook, and Albany. I’d like to know if I got a shot at getting in with my current 3.62 and if there are any colleges that I should check into. The main reason I’m leaning towards SUNYs is because of the price. My EFC is 0 and I’d need it to be mostly covered by financial aid cause I can’t bring myself to justify over 30K in student loans, but if there are any schools even out of state that I could be accepted into that offer generous financial aid I’d love to know. My intended major is in Economics/Finance. Thanks.

If you’re looking to transfer in Spring 2016, then you have applying around the Fall 2015 time. What you read may be confused with the Fall 2016 deadlines. Some school are a little different but most school have a deadline around November/Decemberish when applying to Spring semesters, again this may vary. As far as your GPA you can raise that up more than that if you get straight A’s and it also depends on how many credits you’re taking. Apply in December definitely, applying before or on the priority date as a transfer student increases you’re chances, it shows the college that you are making them a priority choice. As far as financially, start applying for scholarships like everyday. Also look into scholarships for you’re schools specifically. Good Luck!
