What are the academic requirements? And
How many credits would I need to be considered a junior?

Sorry in advance for the wall of text.

You need to graduate from your CC with an AA and at least 60 credits for UF to consider your application right now. 60 credits is the threshold for Junior status. I don’t know about the other colleges, but if you want to transfer into the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences (the largest college at UF) you will need to have satisfied your foreign language requirement as well. Two semesters of college level instruction in a language or two years of high school instruction will satisfy the requirement. It is also advisable to have completed the “critical tracking” requirements for your major up to the point you are transferring at (usually semester 5). These can be found in the catalog listing for your major, and usually include the introductory classes for your major and things like a composition and math sequence. I was told by UF admissions that they would not admit me if I didn’t get all of my critical tracking done, but I know people that have been admitted with most of it undone, so YMMV. Either way, it is in your best interests to get as much of or all of it done. Your department is more likely to admit you if they see a good track record of work done in your desired field. As an aside, UF does not allow transfer students to change majors, you are locked into the department that you transfer to, so make sure you are happy with your major before you transfer.

As far as grades, I would advise you to do as well as you can. Unless you are transferring to the College of Education UF will not care about SAT or ACT scores, so your college grades are all that is considered for academic work. You cannot make up for iffy grades with great test scores or vice versa. You can compensate with your essay and extracurriculars though, so work on that. Leadership roles in clubs or organizations at your current school will look good, especially if they are academic in nature or related to your major.

I transferred with a 4.0, so I don’t really know what you can “get away with” as far as grades, but I would be surprised if they admitted anyone with less than a 3.0. Also, transfer admissions are decided by individual departments, so standards vary. The more popular and academically rigorous majors will be more selective. There are numerous threads on College Confidential where people list their stats, that may be helpful to you.

How lazy are you, to have no clue about those extremely basic questions. Not to mention how the answers are smeared all over the internet especially on a little page called THE UF WEBSITE ::smh::

@PrettyPeridot That was uncalled for. The OP has every right to post any questions she has, no matter how basic. She’s looking for help and belittling someone doesn’t answer any questions or help anyone. Perhaps you could have posted the link to the UF website where she can find the information instead of being rude.

I agree with PrettyPeridot, she could have at least googled the requirements.

It was still uncalled for.

Thank you JoeAce.
I’m sorry, was I being too blunt? When someone says what everyone else is thinking deep inside, suddenly they’re “being rude”. Well I’m just being straight forward and not fostering lazyness. Please do forgive me, random sensitive people on CC.
p.s- I’m going to start posting my homework questions up so you guys can look them up for me =)

No sensitivity here. I just think that you wouldn’t appreciate anyone answering a question of yours like that.

Oooh nice sarcasm. Well done.

I agree with Pretty. If that girl wants to make it to UF she needs to have a better work ethic than that.

Lol what uncouth responses! It’s amazing how one could try and determine my work ethic by viewing a forum post. Yes, I could use google but I feel more comfortable asking someone whose actually gone through the transfer process. Propwash gave an awesome response that wasn’t copy and pasted from google. Is that what you guys do when you’re going your school work? You just google all the questions and hope that will get you through college? No you research and expand your sources. Think twice before you post something with such nonsense such as saying this forum topic is a negative display of my work ethic. Thanks to those who answered positively.

the process of transferring isn’t subjective nor a topic to conduct a thesis on lol. The questions you asked are ones clearly stated on the UF website in black and white. They are clear cut requirements and are extremely easy to understand. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t feel comfortable by looking up answers from the most reliable source: uf themselves…and yes, you should thank propwash for taking out precious time to write you an essay with answers you could have literally found in 30 seconds.

Floridagirl13, I’ve been on the forum for a while now and PrettyPeridot doesn’t exactly exhibit a history of tactfulness in her posts. I hope that you get in, and I think there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking on here!!! :)

Actually the website doesn’t go into detail about the foreign language requirements soooo… You should probably stop.

Thank you uhmazing!

I think some people get a thrill out of arguing on here ahem. So let’s all square this out and desist.
@Pretty- a lot of people apparently follow your posts on here and care enough to form an opinion of you. Maybe you should sugar coat your opinions for those who can’t handle “bluntness”.
@Florida- the foreign language policy IS clearly stated if you bother to search for it and anyone on here can back this up. I don’t know how you could miss it if you searched well.
@uhmazing- your post is just there to stir things up and bringing up someones “history” and making the remarks you said serve no purpose other than to join in on the animosity and make things worse.

Now can we all just move on from this ridiculous ridiculous post and replies? Thank you.
