Transferring from multiple colleges?

Hey, all. :) As most of you probably know, I completed my first two quarters of college at UCLA and withdrew from spring quarter. I'm going to apply to other UC campuses this fall, and I'm also going to take summer classes to make up for the missed quarter at UCLA. Then I'm going to complete a year at community college for sophomore year.

So my questions are these: would it be better to take summer classes at UCSD/SDSU or at a CCC? And how will the UC schools view the fact that I have taken classes at both a UC school and a CC?

I tend to think that because UCSD is on the quarter system, it would make the most sense to take classes there in order to complete my first year all on the same system, but I'm not sure if that really matters.

I also wonder if it would be better to take them at a CCC because it's easier to transfer to a UC school from a CCC.

Any advice?

I think CC would be better. You’ll be going there before you transfer anyway, so it’s one less university you’re adding into the mess. Also, it’ll be a lot cheaper.

I don’t think it will matter whether it’s the quarter or semester system because most summer classes run around the same time despite the type of system.

Bump. Does anyone know how it will be evaluated if I have classes from UCLA and a CC?

What do you mean by how you will be evaluated?

If the last school you will be tranferring from is a CCC, I don’t believe the UC’s will care where you did or did not attend before ccc. As long as you have the lower division coursework done to transfer into junior standing, even if that work had been done at Harvard, you will be fine. You won’t be better off, nor in a worst position, either way.
The only reason worth taking summer courses at a 4 year school, say UCSD, is if they will be upper division classes that will count towards your major once you transfer. Otherwise, it could be a waste of money to take lower division coursework at a UC. When you transfer from a CCC, all the UC cares about is that you finish 60 transferable general ed courses, preferably in the IGETC format, + your lower division major requirements. A student who does this(be it from multiple schools or all at a CCC) will be preferred by the UCs than someone who doesn’t have all the requirements + ge completed(regardless of the school/s they have attended).
