Transferring from Princeton to Harvard

Hey guys,
How hard would it be to transfer into Harvard for next year's fall/spring term as a sophomore (Class of 2011)? Would it be the same as transferring from another school? Thanks in advance!

You're basically in. Congrats!

Why? Enlighten me, as a west coast person, as to what Harvard will provide you that Princeton can't?

Really nothing other than the Harvard name. Both are amazing, and I've heard that Harvard undergraduate leaves a bit more to be desired. Just speculation though.

Well, Princeton is my dream! But they made a mistake during admission. So I am not there...

Can any others provide any answers? And um, I have my reasons for wanting a transfer, but I prefer not to reveal them.

I must admit, I'd take Princeton over Harvard anyday... Then Yale, and then Brown, and then Harvard.

You must have a good reason... Is it the academics? I've spoken and interviewed Edward P. Jones, who was a professor at Princeton, and he told me about the wonderful world of GRADE INFLATION. So, why would you want to leave? They have the same prestige, programs, and I'm sure the same types of students. Is it the area?

Either way, I'm SURE you'll get in. If you got into Princeton, you'll get into Harvard. Keep up the grades and write a good essay, and you're basically in.

I wouldn't say it's a sure thing or definite because that could be fatal to assume for admissions to Harvard but I would say the fact you were admitted to P in the first place you probably could have gotten admitted to Harvard during regular admissions which gives you a definite leg up over most others who are applying.

Just realize that there are going to be a LOT of others at top schools like YPMS etc. who have the same idea as you so make sure you have an excellent essay and reason to transfer.

My friend is a fresh. at princeton and got denied to harvard... his dream school.

Quite obviously it'll be hard to transfer to Harvard, no matter where you are from, unless you donate a wing, there will always be that maybe you won't get in.

It's the exact same as transferring except you're transferring to roughly the same prestiege level

I didn't know there was a lot of people who were at YPMS that wanted to transfer to Harvard too. I guess this will make things even harder...

It's difficult to judge given that you choose not to share your reasons with us. Assuming you have a respectable GPA and stellar recommendations, your chances are as good as they can be, but be sure to articulate why you want to transfer and that it's a compelling reason.
