I am a high school senior who is planning on going to a private university for 2 years on a scholarship and then transferring. I have heard that it would would be more difficult to transfer from a private school to ucla or other ucs rather than from public to public. Would it be impossible to transfer from a private school to a uc or just very difficult?
It wont be hard to transfer to USC, as it IS a private college and they do take a lot of transfer students.
UCLA is a public U and greatly restricts their transfer applicants to Calif community college applicants.
Thank you for your response. Would it be impossible to transfer to ucla if that was what I wanted to do, or is there a very small chance?
very small chance… Especially if you are not a tax paying Calif resident.
The UC’s were set up for the benefit of Calif students. This is Especially true for transfer students.
you DO realize that there are virtually NO scholarship awards for transfer students?
And USC charges over $60,000 for tuition alone?
It does offer good FA for transfer students, IF they are low income, but if you dont have the $$ to pay for 2-3 more years of college there or at any college you try to transfer to, why are you intending at this point to even consider transferring?? Why would you walk away from scholarship $$$.??
Bloom where you are planted…
What if I transferred from a cal state?
Are you a Calif resident?
If you are AND apply to transfer from a Cal State you will have a much better chance of acceptance at UCLA.
Yes I am a Cali resident
then your question has been answered
