I’m attending Santa Monica College in fall of 2019 and I want to transfer to UCLA in one year
I’m a Biology Major and I have AP tests that may count for credit
AP Bio(3)
APUSH(4)
AP Psych (4)
Ap English lang(4)
Ap calculus bc (4)
Ap Environmental Science (5)
And a transferable trig class (4 units)
Is it possible for be to transfer as a bio major in one year? If so, what courses should I take, and should I do the TAP/Scholars program?
Forgot to put in AP engish Literature and Composition (4)
Kind of hard in bio
there is a sequence of chemistry (general chem I and II, ochem I and II) and physics classes…
I think what HS students don’t understand about AP class credits, is that these courses are oftentimes prerequesites for introductory freshman courses. So you get credit for the prerequisite, but you still have to take the intro classes. The college courses are a bit tougher, faster paced, and oftentimes involve separate labs.
My students, who attended UC’s, got elective credit for their AP scores.
At UCLA, AP credits do not satisfy GE requirements. http://www.admission.ucla.edu/Prospect/APCreditLS.htm
http://www.admission.ucla.edu/Prospect/APCreditLS.htm shows the following subject credit for your AP credit at UCLA:
PSYCH 10
ENGCOMP 3
MATH 31A

It is unlikely that you will be able to complete all of them in one academic year of college, even though you have one English course and one math course covered by your AP credit.
