As far as the programs I’m interested go-- Econ/finance. Long term goals are probably in high finance, yes I know my best bet would be to transfer to a Midwest/East Coast school but my roots are in California.
Basic Rundown:
Current School: UofA
College GPA: 3.89
Term application: Incoming Junior for the fall semester
Race: Caucasian
Family Income: Under 100k
ACT: 28 (didn’t bother retaking it), should be neligibele since I wont have to provide this.
Extracurricular:
(1): Residential Realtor for a large brokerage locally
(2): Intern at Mutual of Omaha – Wealth Management (8 weeks)
(3): Intern at TCI Wealth Advisors (10 weeks)
(4): Extern Finance-group founder, organize and plan trips to local firms with fellow students. Went to Vanguard and Edward Jones.

This sums up anything relevant to my career interest (kinda)… I have a few other things that were more relevant when I was in HS as far as leadership goes… don’t really think it would help from a college transfer perspective.
What do you think my chances of getting in are?
I believe it is very difficult to transfer from UA to a UC, especially to UC Berkeley or UCLA, given that UC to UC is already very difficult. If you want to transfer to UCB Haas undergraduate business school, it is probably near impossible. UCB Haas admits primarily from CA community colleges transfers or UC Berkeley. CC admits have about a 3.8 -3.9 GPA and UC Berkeley admits have about a 3.7 GPA.
You might want to call the admissions office of the UC you are interested in.
Also, because you are interested in economic/finance, you might consider finishing up at UA, get some work experience and then apply for graduate business schools at UC Haas or UCLA or the other UCs.
@UCBUSCalum Does the credibility of your degree (i.e UofA versus a UC) play a large roll in getting into a graduate program? Because that does sound like the best option, I just don’t want to get stuck with a sub-par job out of the UofA and have trouble getting into a grad program like such.
Also, I heard because of the UC budget crisis, more OOS transfers have been accepted due to the higher costs included with their tuition. Is this not true?
A degree from UA is credible. Like in any university, you need to get good grades (i.e., 3.5+ GPA) to get top meaningful jobs, like working in consulting or assurance in a Big 4 firm (PWC, EY, Deloitte, KPMG) or some other prestigious firm. After a few years of work experience, work on getting a good GMAT score (i.e.,700+) and apply to a top 25 MBA school, which includes UCLA and UCB Haas) or score high on a graduate admission test and apply to a good graduate program.
I believe you are thinking of OOS high school applicants. In the past, more OOS high school applicants were selected because UCs can charge them the high out of state tuition. However, there are pressures to put a cap on out of state applicants admitted because of complaints from the in state population. This past year, out of state admits did not increase in the UC system.
