im planning on doing honors at osu, but i know people who didnt get in, but are definitely capable of it. i know you can transfer into honors, i think after 2 quarters? does anyone know about this…like what the requirements are and whether you can switch into an honors dorm at that time?

Answers to your questions can be found at: http://honors-scholars.osu.edu/phVisitApply.aspx

yes ive seen that, but it doesn't really have much information on what the requirements are for osu students transferring into honors mid-year. specifically, can they switch into an honors house halfway through the year?

I believe if you are a student not admitted into the honors program when you first enroll, you can attempt to join after 2 quarters if you have a 3.5+ GPA. That's just an educated guess from what I can remember hearing.

To get in in the first place, here are the requirements again:

-Accept Honors Program Affiliation

* Priority deadline March 15, 2008
* Final deadline May 1, 2008
* 30+ ACT composite
* 1340+ SAT Critical Reading and Math scores
* Top 10% class rank

So as far as people you believe to be capable not being accepted, they perhaps just didn't meet the requirements. Though I know OSU can be flexible.

It's important to remember that to graduate with an honors degree in your major the requirements are often more stringent, as well.
