I was just accepted to the school of social sciences (major: economics) for fall 2009, but ive decided I want to major in finance...can i transfer into Smith before i even enroll? Can i have them reevaluate my application? If i do have to wait till i get there, how hard is it to tansfer into a limited enrollment program? also, how soon after i arrive can i transfer?

Marg1,

You can have them re-evaluate your application. I remember a couple of students who applied undecided had this done at orientation. Typically, you need a solid 1300 SAT and 3.4 GPA (we'll that was 2007), so now I'm going to guesstimate a 3.5-3.6 GPA and 1350-1400 SAT will get you in Smith.

Just wanted to let you know I was accepted last year into CMPS, and then I wasn't sure if I wanted to do Smith or not, but wanted to keep my options open, so I contacted the LEP coordinator, who said as long as you fit the freshman requirement, you can double up, and by a month into school I was a Math/ Gen Business Major. All you have to do is sign up, and then in November, wait for the B school to contact you for advising, and that will be how you double check you're in the system and everything correctly :) Hope that helped, that's what they did for me :)

PS at orientation, or the April Open Houses, they give you a form to fill out, if you want to do it now. I waited because I wasn't sure, but just ask around at open houses if you can make it to them
