Transferring. Now have a W.

I sent my transfer applications about a month and half ago. It is my first semester of my Freshman year, and obviously I had no grades on my college transcript. Since applying, I have withdrawn myself from a class. Do I need to notify the school I sent transfer applications to, or will they find this out on their own? Thanks.

If the deadline is before final grades come out, you need to tell them. If it comes next spring, then they will find out.

Yes. I forgot to point out that this transfer is for Spring 2010 semester and the transfer app. deadline was Oct. 1st.

I’d recommend notifying them of the change immediately. The only way they’d find out is if you’re accepted and then you will send them your final transcript. At that point, they could rescind you, better to be up front about the change IMO.

Thank you. I have not received a decision yet, but should be hearing back in the next few weeks. Should I wait until I hear back from them before letting them know about the W?

If you think it’s important that they have your most accurate information when making the decision, send it now. If you’d rather wait and deal with the possibility of being rescinded, then don’t send it.
