Transferring on Short Notice Due to Being Unable to Pay for Next Semester

Hello, I am currently having an issue regarding whether I'll be able to attend my college for my sophomore year due to being about $20,000 short and unable to take out loans. I was aware of this situation and have been looking into different colleges and have a pretty good idea of where I want to transfer to but I did not fill out any of the applications due to a promised scholarship from one of my current majors (I am a triple major). But only today I learned that, that scholarship was a lie and now I am stuck in this mess.

I am not sure if colleges are willing to accept a rising sophomore who, during their first semester in their first year did pretty bad by barely even getting a 2.0 due to failing one class, dropping a class, getting a D in another class and the only saving grace of a B+ in the last class. And then in their second semester raised their gpa up to a 3.0 and got on dean's list with only A's and B's.

I really need some advice on this issue because the colleges I am thinking of transferring to are Florida International University and Florida Atlantic University due to them being the few colleges that offer a computer science program, which is my major, and I am worried they won't accept me due to being such a short notice transfer student. Also I really don't want to go to community college due to the fact that might set me back an entire semester or year due to my only pre-reqs I will need are my two calculus classes...

If anyone has an advice or words of wisdom please let me know!

Thank you in advance~

(I.E. In regards to my high school career, I graduated with I believe one or two D's and the rest mostly A's and B's and a couple of C's that brought my overall gpa to a 3.3/4.0. I took one college-level course in history and did pretty good in that class. My SAT was a 1450 and my ACT was a 21 or 23 (Don't really remember).)

As a rising sophomore, I don’t think you have enough transferable credits to go directly to another university; plus your not even sure where you can transfer to and whether or not you can pay their fees. You need to go to a CC because that appears to be your only option.

I have a pretty good idea of where I want to transfer too and its only the matter of me contacting them. Currently I have 33 credits which is more than enough for me to apply as a lower division transfer student. And in addition to their fees, the two colleges I am looking at are way cheaper than my current university which is a private university. But then again thank you for your advice :)

Colleges see that “bad first semester” followed by a good second semester a lot. It’s common among freshmen. I can’t imagine the two new schools wouldn’t admit you if they have room.
