Transferring out of Rice University

First off, I know I’m extremely lucky to be at a top 20 university like Rice but somethings just don’t work out!

Current Year: Sophomore (Math & Economics major)

College GPA: 3.63

High School GPA: 3.83

SAT: 2100

Extracurriculars: Student Government, Finance club, Tennis club
Work Experience: Finance/Consulting related internships at 2 renowned companies (Prefer not to disclose)
Volunteer/Community Service: Worked in orphanages in Africa and Cambodia over the past 3 years
Teacher Recommendations: Strong

Other
Income Bracket: $250,000+
Hooks (URM): African American

Schools: Georgetown, Brown, Columbia, UPenn

Any comments at all would be much appreciated!

Your College GPA seems sort of low for the colleges you have mentioned.

Would you mind sharing why you are interested in leaving Rice?

@thecoolboy1234 Yes I know my gpa is sort of low- Rice is a tough school and so is my major so hopefully some of it will be looked at in context. Fingers crossed!

your college GPA might be low but the fact that you’re a URM makes all of these very likely

For Rice, your GPA is pretty good. I would say that Georgetown and Penn are all well within reach, Brown and Columbia may be just a bit harder. Will you get professors to give recs? I think they would like to see recommenders who know your college work and not your high school classwork.
