Ok so I've read how hard/competitive it is to transfer out of Wharton. I was wondering, how hard is it to transfer out of Wharton (for whatever reason) into CAS? into SEAS?

You have to have a certain GPA to get OUT, believe it or not. (whatever GPA it is that CAS or SEAS requires)

you need at least a 3.0

and unfortunately there's always a handful of kids who want to get out and can't

"Help I'm trapped in Wharton!" Oh the delicious irony of it all!

haha, thanks for the replies. so at the very least im assuming that it's easier to transfer out of wharton than it is to transfer into it, right?

yep.

3.8 to get in.
3.0 to get out.

Don't worry, it's not THAT difficult. If you were smart enough to get in (i.e. not a recruited athlete or legacy), you should do just fine.

^ legacies are usually smart though. i mean, their parents went to penn so they're obviously intelligent.

^ 4 words: regression to the mean

The Wharton curve basically guarantees you a C and the rest is up to you to work a little to get a B or work a lot to get an A. Also, there are plenty of dumb non legacy non athletes in Wharton that really help the curve. Legacies are pretty smart from my experiences. O well, people will always discriminate.

Credited remarks about legacy; some of them are indeed intelligent. To say so simply because they were the children of Penn grads (which, by the way, only became as selective as it is now quite recently), however, is not good judgment.

The first time I saw your username I thought it said "mutateapotato"

That would be a good band name, though. I say go for it.

So you need a 3.8 to transfer into Wharton from another university?

probably higher, most have just about a 4.0

Internally you need a 3.8 or so. Externally, you're going to need to have as close to a 4.0 as you can possibly get.

The required minimum GPA for internal transfer into Wharton varies from semester to semester, depending on the number of available spaces and number and GPAs of people applying. See the table on this page:

Next semester, I can't imagine that it will be as high as usual (given the financial turmoil).
