Transferring to another 4-year from a 4-year

Is transferring from one 4-year to another possible? I am a current USC Spring admit, and to be honest, I feel terrible there like if I made the worst choice of my life. I got into several top-notch schools but the one I am more focused in as of now is UC Berkeley. I was wondering whether this was possible and if it would be recommended. I am so forth into committing to change to Berkeley no matter what but need to know what steps go along with it? What may be requirements? I got into UCBerkeley last year and hope that rejecting them won't affect my attempt to enter the institution once again. I haven't had any tranferrable units from USC thus far since I am just applying for classes today. I feel terrible and hope someone can help..... I am a worried and hurt college student....so much for dreams....

I’m really confused. Have you even started at USC?

For a realistic chance of getting into Berkeley you would have to drop out of USC and spend at least two years in a California Community College (CCC) and then transfer to Berkeley as a junior.

However, before doing that I would really reconsider going from a highly regarded private school with substantial resources before entering the world of public higher education in California. At USC you will probably have no problems getting all the classes you need to graduate in four years. The budget situation in California is dire and not likely to get better. Important pre-requisite courses are extremely hard to get in most CCCs due to severe cuts in the number of classes offered and the increase in numbers of students. Your stay at a CCC could easily extend to three years or more. If you think you hate the idea of spending the next four years at USC, try to imagine spending four years at a CCC.

Then, once you get to Berkeley you are still likely to be closed out of some classes during some semesters if you are in an impacted major.

Why are you reluctant to attend USC?
