Hello everyone,

If I am not a CC student, not from a 4-year college in California, is it virtually impossible to transfer to Berkeley? Do you have any experience with this?

Thanks very much in advance!

(I'm really clueless about the transferring process, but if I would like to apply to transfer, do I have to notify my 4-year college?)

Try checking out the transfer forum.

But yes, you can transfer from a four year college. Transfer admissions to Berkeley generally favor CC students, but if you do well at your current school you have a good shot of getting in. You don’t have to notify your college’s administration that you’re applying, but you will need to send your transcripts to Berkeley and probably also get letters of recommendation from professors you have had (so some professors will know you’re applying). You’ll only inform your college if you’re accepted and decide to attend a different school (because they’ll have to know you’re withdrawing).
