Hey, I guess this is a a general question for Brown students and I suppose Upenn and Dartmouth students as well since they are on par as far as transferring is concerned…

Is it difficult to transfer out of a college after two years into an Ivy. That is, would I face a tougher chance attending Notre Dame for 2 years and then trying to transfer into an IVY such as Brown, Penn, and Dartmouth, or is it best to try after Freshman year…?

Thanks.

I am also in your position thinking about transferring and whatnot, but here are just a couple points that will answer your questions.

if you are apply to be a sophmore transfer, your high school record and sat scores will be heavily weighted. therefore, if you had a strong high school recored and you were waitlisted at several ivies, then you have a good chance of applying as a sophmore transfer.

on the other hand, if you are applying as a junior transfer, your college record will be more important.

So, the "ease" of transferring as a soph or junior really depends on your hs record. transferring in and of itself is more difficult, but brown suprisingly has a higher transfer acceptance than frosh acceptance.
